"just think about it boys, coming and going at the same time!"... Invasion of the Bee Girls; a Sci Fi Horror / Softcore Porn movie centred on the premise that biologically altered Women quite literally fuck men to death.
Quite literally.
There's no real explanation as to why Queen Bee and Lana Del Rey inspiration Dr. Susan Harris (Anitra Ford) either willingly subjects herself to the biological alteration, or has it inflicted upon her by accident, and the actual scientific explanation of how Bee Girls come to be is neatly glossed over, but we do get this one transformation / lesbian porn scene where the rest of girls coat this one woman in thick white goo, and bees swarm round her, and then they kiss her and feel their own boobs...
Yeah I'm pretty sure this film started out life as a soft porn... ANYWAY when undergoing the transformation they accidentally sterilise themselves apparently which causes them to need to have sex. Alot. And get their boobs out. ALOT.
So yes, there is alot of nudity in this movie. To the point it becomes almost sexual exploitation but maybe for a 1973 film it was trying to go down the route of being edgy and against the grain?
It wasn't awful, actually. The acting was pretty reasonable and I especially liked Cliff Osmond as the Police Chief, who developed into a pretty likeable character, but it got pretty cheesy and low rate in places. Apparently in this town, abstaining from sex for more than an hour causes you to resort to literally raping somebody. That was pretty unsettling. And it had it's fair share of scenes shot in almost literal darkness so I hadn't got a fucking clue what was going on.
Not one to watch with the parents, or in the inlaws. Unless you get some kind of weird, perverse satisfaction out of feeling really awkward and uncomfortable around them... in which case, go nuts mate. Alternatively if you really like tits and bums and a bit of meat on the bone when it comes to your pornography storylines and you can go without the actual doing it bit, then this might just be the film for you.
But was it the film for me? Errr no not really. 2 out of 5 stars.
